Only 2019 and later model year Lexus ES350 vehicles are compatible with CarPlay.

A software glitch is responsible for the CarPlay problem. The connected USB port on your ES350 does not support CarPlay. Try a different cable, preferably original Apple cable. The Lightning-to-USB cable you’re using is defective. CarPlay is disabled in your iPhone, go to ‘Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps’ and enable both CarPlay and Siri. 
CarPlay is disabled in the infotainment system settings of your ES350. If you’re unsure which USB port supports CarPlay on your particular ES350 variant, then consult your vehicle’s owners manual – or you can try plugging in the cable, one by one, in all the USB ports in dashboard and center console. To go back to CarPlay interface, press the Apple CarPlay icon on the home screen of the infotainment system. To return to the display audio home screen, press the LEXUS icon. After a few seconds Apple CarPlay will launch on your ES350’s infotainment system. This allows the use of CarPlay with your ES350 while phone is locked. Touch Allow on your iPhone when prompted. A prompt will appear in your ES350: “Apple CarPlay is available for this device.” Choose Enable Once or Always Enable from the three options. Connect your Apple iPhone to your Lexus ES350 USB port using an Apple-approved Lightning-to-USB cable. Setup > Projection Settings Connect iPhone to ES350’s USB port This can be done by selecting Setup, then open Projection Settings and make sure that Apple CarPlay is turned on.
